Sue Renner, Executive Director for the Merage Foundations, will serve for three years on the Early Childhood Education Commission for Mayor Hancock in Denver, Co.  

The Early Childhood Education Commission members shall advise the Director of the Office of Child Care Initiatives, on matters concerning early childhood education and child care for city employees and residents of Denver (excluding matters pertaining to the Denver Head Start Program).  Qualifications for membership shall include, but not be limited to, an individual who serves on the Board of Education for Denver Public Schools, Parents who are consumers of child care or early childhood education programs, an individual representing child care providers, an individual representing child care development professionals, an individual representing city agencies with interests in child care, and a member of the Denver City Council.

Sue oversees the grant making and operations for the Merage Foundation, and is spearheading the development of the Foundation's Early Learning Ventures initiative to increase the stability and productivity of Colorado's ECE sector through market-based interventions.  Sue sits on the Executive Committee for Executives Partnering to Invest in Children, a coalition of business leaders, nonprofits and foundations who are committed to making early childhood care, education, health, and parenting among the highest priorities of Colorado’s public and private investments. 

Prior to joining the Merage Foundation in 2006, Renner was the Executive Director of Early Childhood Connections, a non-profit corporation providing early intervention supports and services to over 1,000 infants and toddlers and their families each year in the Denver-metro region. Sue also worked as a Senior Program Manager with the Colorado Office of Resource and Referral Agencies where she was responsible for launching Colorado's T.E.A.C.H. program, a public-private venture to provide early care and education professionals with college scholarships.
