Yitzchak Shavit High School Celebrates Six Year Anniversary

The Yitzchak Shavit High School in Sha’ar HaNegev opened in 2010 in the northwest region of the Negev. Thanks to the generous contributions from the Andre and Katherine Merage Foundation as well as many others, the school has flourished over the last six years. Currently, the high school campus consists of eight buildings serving more than 1,200 students from 7th to 12th grades. These students come from various areas around the Sha’ar HaNegev region and bordering Gaza strip, each bringing with them a unique background. As such, the school has devised a diversified and rich curriculum implemented by the 153 teachers to close any academic achievement gaps that may be present during a students’ first year at the school.

Students have more than 15 different majoring options and a variety of courses to choose from ranging from physics to fashion and theater to car mechanics. The hard work of school supporters, teachers, and students has been apparent in student matriculation rates, increasing from 60% to 80% in the past five years.

As Ahrale Rothstein, the school principal, stated
